Why I work at Gongos

Gongos is just plain fun! I have the opportunity to come to work every day and work next to many amazing people who have now become my friends. It’s also fun because I do what I like – research – and I do it in an environment where I can learn a lot. Oh, and I never get bored here!

Why I love what I do

Human behavior and mathematics have always fascinated me. So, it makes sense that in my first year of college I realized that research could satisfy my inquisitive nature. It combines a view into the complex world of human behavior through a scientific eye - one guided by exact methods such as statistics.

My career path

Upon graduation, I found an area of research where my work had an immediate impact. It was none other than marketing research. As an intern at Gongos, I realized that this field is a perfect fit for me. It is great to be able to do what I like best while helping clients make the best business decisions in the “right here and now.” Not only that, I relish in seeing the end-result come to fruition. When Gongos saw potential in me, I was hired as a Project Coordinator. Working full-time reaffirmed my belief that this is a field I enjoy working in every single day – one in which I can make significant contributions. During the past year I have learned so much and have taken on more responsibilities. In fact, one of my new goals is to earn my Masters in Marketing Research, which I am currently doing at the University of Georgia.

A day at the office

Currently, most of my time goes into the development of a new product. No one day is like the next. A typical day would start with a project development meeting involving people from all different teams (programming, management, product development, etc.). Other activities may include client meetings regarding specific projects, training staff, or attending specialized trainings (on report writing, quantitative analysis, etc.).

The rest of the day I manage or coordinate projects to validate the product I manage - developing and checking Internet surveys, working with sample suppliers, analyzing data, designing or writing reports and creating charts. I can also spend time writing proposals and gathering costs. In all of these areas, I work in concert with different teams. Although I do spend quite a bit of time in front of my computer, my job feels more like work with people rather than behind my computer.

What I love outside of work

Outside of work, I am always doing something - working out, going to the movies, shows or parties, church or bible study. However, I make an effort so my schedule is seamless to my friends, as I want them to feel that I always have time for them. One of my favorite things is dancing. I have a lot of Latin friends and they throw parties somewhere almost weekly (yes, Michigan is fun!). I love the relaxing, free-to-be-myself feeling dancing gives me.

I also have a group of close American girlfriends with whom I love spending time. Whether going to shows or the movies, having dinner, or doing bible studies and volunteer activities, I love “doing life” and growing every day together. During warm weather I love spending time outside, hiking, biking, or being at the pool.
