Why I work at Gongos

I stumbled upon Gongos Research through my college internship program. They were the first company that interviewed me and I was impressed with the people, as well as their environment. Since then, that initial impression has only grown more positive! I do not think I could find a better, more enjoyable or intelligent group of people to work with anywhere.

Why I love what I do

While I am a person who likes structure and organization in my life, I can quickly become bored with monotony. Marketing research offers a great balance for me. The constant change of projects and topics provide diversity to keep things exciting, yet the end-product must be organized, structured and clear in order to make it actionable. My job is to bring clarity to uncertainty and the unknown.

My career path

I started with Gongos Research as an intern at UofM-Dearborn, and from there quickly fell in love with research and Gongos. While I did interview upon graduation, my heart was set on coming back to work here. After hiring on full-time, I quickly moved into the Project Director position and moderating focus groups became a natural fit for me. My growth has continued to the Senior Project Director position, and I continue to moderate focus groups on a consistent basis.

A day at the office

It is difficult to describe a typical day or week in my life here at Gongos. Generally, they include frequent communication with our clients. I work with our internal project team to ensure progress is being made, and provide any client input. I am responsible for our junior staff’s time, their progress and shifting any project work that may be required to meet our clients’ timelines. This responsibility also requires planning ahead to decide who will be the best fit on any upcoming projects. Beyond that, I need to accomplish my own project requirements! Usually that includes developing project-related documents (e.g. proposal, project pricing, screeners, moderator’s guides or reports/presentations). Like many here at Gongos, we often have many items on our plates at one time, so managing my time and reacting to the frequent project changes keeps me on my toes!

What I love outside of work

There are so many things I love to do outside of work!

My Christian faith and the enjoyment of giving back results in a lot of community activities like working with teenagers and the occasional mission’s trip. Being from a large family, I love spending time with them all. A close second to my family are the great friends I have made over the years. Spending quality time with friends and family is essential to encourage and refuel me on so many levels. Also, anything from sand volleyball, softball, basketball, snowboarding and mountain biking to pool or ping-pong will capture my attention. I enjoy challenging myself and being outside to get exercise. Additionally, I also enjoy traveling and seeing new places, as well as repeated visits to old favorites.
